Maryann McMahon, OP, President

Sister Maryann McMahon is president of the Racine Dominicans. A nurse practitioner with MSN and FNP degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, she has served in multiple capacities. Before her election as president of her community, she was the Executive Director of HOPES Center, serving mental health and social service needs of Racine’s poor and homeless.

Shari Geertsen, Secretary/Treasurer

Shari Geertsen has been the Director of Finance for the Racine Dominicans since 2002. She holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. She also serves on several non-profit boards and is a trustee for several congregations. Her prior work includes Controller and Accounting Manager in for-profit corporations for more than 10 years.

John Albert

John Albert graduated from Marquette Law School in 1971 and started a successful Racine firm where he practiced for many years. He helped establish and lead the Downtown Racine Development Corporation, the Alliance for Mentally Ill, Societies Assets, Inc., and others. He recently served as Trustee on the Board of the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota. He has had broad experience in developing and participating in board governance with several non-profit organizations as well as serving as Board Chairman of a privately held manufacturing firm in Illinois.

Joanne Armatowski, SSND

Sister Joanne Armatowski is a School Sister of Notre Dame who presently serves as administrator of the SSND retirement facility at Notre Dame of Elm Grove. She holds a MA in public service with a focus on health care from Marquette University and a MA as a reading specialist from Cardinal Stritch University. Before serving as administrator for the last three years, she was in leadership in her community for six years.

Agnes Johnson, OP, Vice-President

Sister Agnes Johnson has been Vice President of the Racine Dominicans since 2006. She holds a B.S. in medical technology from Dominican College, Racine, and an RN from Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee. Before being elected to leadership in her community, she was an RN case manager for Home Health United in Portage, a nonprofit health care agency.

Suzanne Noffke, OP

Sister Suzanne Noffke has been the Racine Dominican Partnership Coordinator since the partnership’s inception in 2008. She has a doctorate in linguistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She served as president of the Racine Dominicans for six years, and is now a translator, writer, historian and lecturer.

William Schalk

Prior to returning to Racine in 1986, Mr. Schalk was a career naval officer retiring with the rank of commander. He was a naval flight officer who made seven aircraft carrier cruises including one as an exchange officer with the Royal Navy in Scotland. Upon returning to Racine, Mr. Schalk attended Marquette University Law School where he graduated in 1989. He served his community as an assistant district attorney until his retirement in 1997. From 2009 – 2011, Mr. Schalk served as President of the Board of Directors of Lincoln Lutheran of Racine, and also served as a board member since 2004.
